PLATELET-RICH PLASMA THERAPY IN KLEINBURG

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a process by which a patient’s own blood is drawn and then placed in a centrifuge to help concentrate one’s platelets. These platelets contain growth factors, that can aid in the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints.

 

The drawn blood is then injected by a physician or a specially trained registered nurse into the patients injured site with the rationale being that the additional growth factors released by platelets would augment the natural healing process and expedite recovery. PRP injections have been shown to improve function and reduce pain in inflammatory conditions such as tendonitis, and accelerate recovery and healing in muscular strains and tears.
